У підручнику надано сучасні поняття і положення про клімат та кліматичну систему, детально розглянуто основні фактори кліматоутворення, процеси формування теплового режиму кліматичної системи і взаємозв’яки між її окремими ланками. Викладаються основні положення теорії класифікації клімату і просторовий розподіл кліматів згідно з різними класифікаціями. Значну увагу приділено проблемі змін клімату Землі.
Підручник призначений для студентів, аспірантів гідрометеорологічного напряму навчання, а також для географічних факультетів університетів та педагогічних вищих навчальних закладів. Може бути використаний для ознайомлення з кліматологією у вищих та середніх спеціальних навчальних закладах іншого профілю та для самоосвіти.

The textbook covers up-to-date concepts and assumptions on the climate and climatic system. The main factors of climate formation, the formation of the thermal regime of the climatic system and the relationship between its particular links are considered in detail. The basic propositions of the theory for climate classification and the spatial distribution of climate types according to various classifications are stated. Significant attention is given to the issue of the Earth’s climate change.
The textbook is intended for undergraduate and post-graduate students, specializing in Hydrometeorology, and the students of geographical departments of universities and pedagogical higher educational establishments. It may also be used for learning Climatology in the higher and specialized secondary educational establishments of other profile and for self-education.
